How would you seam film??

Recommended Posts

What is the best way to seam two pieces of film??

I've done it where we've butted up the two factory edges... and I've also done it, although not as often, where we over lap the film, get a straight edge, and cut a new line and then remove each overlapping part.

The reason I'm asking is that I went on an est. the other day, and the one paladium may need to be seamed. They have internal grids.. so having light shine thru the seam won't be an issue. I just don't know which is the best way to do it.

Thanks!!

overlap and splice with straight-edge...don't forget to flip & reverse your second of 2 peices (that way you won't have a difference in reflectivity if it's a reflective film your doing :thumb

Right TW but the problem I have had in the past is seperation on the seam later on down the road.

:bingo ..never had this problem that I'm aware of done it this way my whole career, there's a place down the street from me :hide was done by my dad and me in 1980 all seamed windows ...the ones that are still there from not being replaced over the yrs are still good(a little faded out...seams are just as good as when we put them on ...perhaps it's the brand of film??..
