plastic knife??

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone uses a knife with a plastic edge or anything non metallic. So when cutting the top edge of windows you don't scratch or etch into the film. I have been using a standard metal olfa knife for 11 years(same one I have had since tint school lol). It isn't really a big deal, I can do it without scratching but my knife is getting very old and worn and was gonna order one and stopped and thought it would be nice for maybe a non metal edge..Anyone have info? thanks all!

I've used the square plastic blades, thinking they would work on back window defroster lines, they're not good for nething. Other than that I use ss snapoff blades for all of my cutting and any square blade from the hardware store for side scraping.

I'm pretty sure he means the frame for knives with snapoff blades. I've never seen a frame that was plastic tho

I used an olfa blade for awhile but love the NT Pro A1!! I used to fold up a paper towel and slip in on the blade between the film and frame of the knife but it really just takes practice micro-edging to cut a nice clean line.

I use a red dot olfa and have since they came out with them! I myself could never use a plastic olfa unless I lost my metal one but guys perfect there own techniques with what they get use to! I can see where using a plastic olfa would stop the etching problem , I just never consider it a big deal!!!
