residential sales people

Ask yourself if you like it when a salesman comes to your front door unannounced :thumb It would serve you better to network with other related service fields.....glass companies, blind companies, interior designers...ect and let them be your sales people...

I know I dont like it when someone comes to my door to try and sell me something. That being said, "cold knocking" does work...eventually, otherwise no one would do it. And I swear to god if another Kirby sales guy/woman comes to my house again, I will meet them with a gun!

If you are going to do it, be repectful of your potential customer, and dont take longer than 30 seconds to tell them about you, your company, and your film. Then, hand them some literature and tell them if they are intersted in getting their house tinted in the future, to give you a call. Thank them for their time, and leave. This way you arent forcing a sale, you aren't keeping them standing at the door, and they now have your information in their hand. Hopefully they will look through it and consider getting their house tinted, and you will be first on their list.

Danggg ! I was doing this just yesterday. (soliciting flat glass).Commercial only. And yes,I frown on salespeople stopping by unanounced. But, you have to try something to generate sales when there is practically 0 calls or inquiries for it.If they are not calling or coming to you,go to them.It is called putting forth the effort.

Dont ask me why I just posted 2 replies that are identical.I was'nt finished with what I was writing and pressed the backspace button and it posted it.Anyhow,to conclude on my first attempt,I drove home with a sense of knowing that I tried to generate some cash flow.

Commercial cold calling works when there is someone in charge (small business owner) around to talk to. Again having a good network of referrals is a must when the weather has turned or when the economy is bad. Thanks goodness for my continued commercial work (white frost mostly) this winter cause no residential customers are calling this time of year when the heat and glare is at a minimum. BTW, I agree that if you do the residential door to door cold calling, make it short and sweet and hand over the info. Dont push for the customer to make a decision in the doorway.

The thing that would kill me is if I gave them the idea to think about tinting and decided to get another quote from someone else and went with them because they were slightly cheaper...lol :tantrum

Yeah, it would suck for you to do the leg work and another company gets the job...but, if you are the better salesman, they will go with you, even if you are higher.
