hoosier is right, there is no fix to this until the man upstairs decides to fix it

But thats not true. It can be fixed by someone. Then that person can thank God for guidance. Cali needs to stop holding their hand out and think about how they can turn the problem around...and taxing is not the answer. They should tighten up their belt and be frugal with the tax payers money.

California, BTW, is the world's 8th largest economy (it) is actually subsidizing, through federal taxes paid, the various programs of smaller (and poorer) states.

The Senators and Repesentatives of California (Democrats) would tax a fart if they could.

They are going to tax farts, :lol (pun intended) in order to "fight global warming" :spit they are going to tax methane emissions from livestock.

Google "methane tax".

They know damn well increasing taxes will be the death blow, they are doing it on purpose.

Id like to get a link to this for further research, and Id like to know what states are being helped.

Just absurd! I think I remember hearing something about this. Maybe they should tax us for breathing, b/c we emit CO2 gases. Global warming...what a joke. Al Gore is an ass clown!

Who?

Conservatives in the house and senate might be a good start. Are you implying that we just sit on our hands and "hope" it gets better? HOPE does not equal CHANGE. How hard is it to figure out they are spending more than they are making? If this happens in your household, what do you do? You cut the "fat" out right? This is what Cali, and our country for that matter, needs to do. Stop spending money where money shouldnt be spent. A good start would be to start denying benefits to !llegal immigrants. Cali has a big problem with this (So does Texas). Im sure by this easy task, they could save millions, if not billions of dollars. How about cutting taxes across the board? Dont tell me if taxes are cut, then revenues are diminished...thats not how the economy works. You save people money, guess what?? They have more money to spend! Yeah!!!! There are so many things that can be done, but no one does a thing.

The wrong attitude is to start taxing more thinking it will solve the deficit. It doesn't work. Should Cali do this, and p1ss enough people off, they will simply leave. Then what are they gonna do? Oops, we're sorry, please come back, we need your money. If you boss was screwing you out of money where you worked, would you stick around?

Proof of the 8th largest status from conservative think tank the Hoover Institute:

http://www.hoover.org/research/factsonpoli...s/35975159.html

On our subsiding other states:

"California Institute Releases Updated "Balance of Payments" Report

The California Institute has prepared and released a fiscal year 2002 version of its annual "Balance of Payments" report, showing that the state's net fiscal outflow to the federal government increased for the eighth consecutive year. Fueled largely by a sharp increase in its federal tax burden compared to other states, Californians in 2002 sent $58 billion more to Washington in federal taxes than the state received back in federal spending. The imbalance means that the average Californian paid $1,660 more in federal taxes in 2002 than was received in federal funds and services. Put differently, California received 77 cents in federal payments and services for every dollar sent to Washington. In 2002, California housed 12.2 percent of the nation's residents, paid 14.1 percent of federal taxes and received back 11.0 percent of federal payments and expenditures."

So TintJunkie it would appear that some other states are the ones with their hands out.

According to Conservative think tank the CATO institute:

Lobbying Strategies

State governments treat federal aid like a

gold mine, and they use a multipronged

strategy to secure their share of aid nuggets

First, they work with their state delegations

in Congress to steer as much spending as

possible toward home. Then they create gov

ernment agencies that track and manage the

securing of federal subsidies.

Texas has an Office of State-Federa

Relations that decides priorities for the state

regarding federal aid funding, provides news

from Congress on aid programs, and works

with Texas agencies to maximize federal fund

ing.

and

The Republican governor of Texas, Rick Perry, is considered a con-

servative, but his official webpage is chock full

of press releases touting his handouts of fed-

eral subsidies.

and

The State of Texas was paying

$30,000 a month to lobby Congress, with the

fees split between a Republican lobby shop

(the Federalist Group) and a Democratic

lobby shop (Cassidy and Associates).

Here is a table compiled by:

The Northeast-Midwest Institute is a Washington-based, private, non-profit, and non-partisan research organization dedicated to economic vitality, environmental quality, and regional equity for Northeast and Midwest states.

http://www.nemw.org/fundsrank.htm

The Far column lists the Ranking of Return.

The closer a state is to the top the more "welfare" they receive.

Note that in 2005 California received just .80 per dollar paid in Federal taxes. Texas, however, received .97

The other arch liberal states you mentioned Michigan received less than Texas with .94 and the other arch liberal state received just .82 also less than Texas.

Kinda seems like the conservative states are on welfare, in addition to having higher divorce rates than Massachusetts.
