Film info needed guys

Recommended Posts

We have priced up a double glazed polycarbonate roof job and the only film we can find is very expensive.

I know we cant go into costs on here but lets just say that the film is costing us 60% of the total money we will get for the job. ie if we priced the job at $100 then the film would cost us $60.

On most glass jobs we can get down to around 20% and so we are searching for another film that can be applied on this kind of plastic roof to make this job more worth while.

The requirements of the job are to reduce heat inside the building, glare isnt an issue really.

Thank, Jon

You may need to go back and tell them you made a mistake and split the difference. Explain that the type of material you thought you were able to use will not work and that the product that will is considerably more expensive.

Other than that I am no help :coffee

what he said. Never give a quote without knowing exactly what film you are going to use, so you don't screw yourself like this.

When a job is priced with margins like that all it takes to turn the job into a zero profit job is messing up a window or two. Often people don't understand how much it costs just for the unavoidable waste on high end film, let alone a mistake or two.

If that happens it would be better to not do the job at all. That's why I'd tell them you decided not to do the job at all unless they are willing to pay considerably more. :shock.

State to your cust that the film you though is no more available at your nearest distributor, you might have to go with a new film that will likely bring the price a little higher. you understand their feeling and for that you and him will share added price. fair enough not ot loose your job.

hope it will help

this is a good idea. offer to split the cost 50/50 or something similar, just a way so that you at least make money off the job and don't risk losing money. explain to the customer that you made a mistake in the estimate, and because of it are no longer able to do the job for that price, but you will split the new price with him. this way everyone is happy, and you don't lose money.
