removing sprayed on film

It is not a film like comes on rolls that you would tint your car with. Wherever the razor does manage to scrape it off it leaves the window clear. The same is true for the scouring pad.

The first time I washed the window with paper towels and windex is when the swirl marks started showing up. If I scrape it with a razor blade brownish color specs come off and leaves the window clear where it comes off.

no one uses spray on film anymore. it's gotta be the low e coating on a wrongly manufactured unit (like TTS suggested.) you need a triumph and some stainless steel blades. or better yet just replace the thing. it's probably toast by now. :beer

I removed some 30 year old flow on film recently..... some soapy water and a triumph and a new blade every so often and the shiat scraped off fine. we had to use some leverage. it wasn't an 'easy' scrape, but it wasn't a real chore either. slider size window scraped and ready for re-tinting withing 15 minutes.

I run into this sh!t once in a while and all you can do is have some fresh ss blades and plenty of water and towels. I agree that its not easy, but not that bad either.

okay, take the tip of the razor and make a scratch. if what you see is a dark line then just stop there and get the glass replaced. that's a coating.

:beer I've ran across the same situation. Don't know what the coating was, still don't know what it is to this day, but I don't think it was spray on... Good luck
