I visit this site alot but haven't posted alot, but now I'm looking to see if anyone has had this happen to them.I've had my shop for 25 years...we do wheels, tires, lift kits, lowering kits, and all kinds of other accessories. We've been tinting for over 15 years,I have 2 shops w/in 3 miles of each other with 5 to 6 tinters between the two. Both shops stay busy and we also do flat-glass.I'm the most expensive guy in town with a few other shops around me doing the low price tint jobs. This past Monday I'm called to our install bay first thing as if there is a problem with a car but when I walk around to see what's up there is a banner hanging there saying window tint and graphics on the unit right next to me.I understand this is the USA and no crime has taken place but these guys set up shop like it's no big deal.I spend alot of $$$ on advertising and these guys nothing, they hardly speak English! Most of my customers wouldn't let them touch their car but they can't understand why I'm not happy with them being there. They have a 1 yr. lease, can't see them making it too long.So anyone have this happen, someone roll in and try to snake your customers.I'm all about not bashing the other guy and do a better job at selling,installing...that's when their the low-baller across town not next door!

Shows a total lack of class on their part for sure. Dealing with competition is one thing, them making an A-hole move like that is another. Whatever you do about it, would be justifiable in my book. :lol2 Good luck.

If I read correctly you are a wheel/lifts/push bar/e.t.c shop that offers/does window tinting services .If I was the guy next door [window tinting/graphics/wrap/ppf specialist] I would not consider your trim shop as a real tint pro shop. Good luck with that one.

Does the same person own the unit you lease/rent? I know some guys make sure before leasing a building that a similar business cannot be opened in the same plaza etc...

I agree with both of these to a sense. Lorenzo tinting could be 50% of his business you never know? If thats the case the landlord should not allow a competitive business in the same plaza. :thumb

from the description I would agree, he described it as an accessory shop, not a tint shop

No landlord to deal with on my part,I own three buildings in the complex.I did speak with the owner of the unit occupied by the new guys and he swears he didn't know it would be a big deal.I did say that I do accessories and I do alot of them but I am very well known in the area for window tint.I even advertise a differant name for my window tint( VERY LARGE sign)that says window tint above the install bay.My prices are higher,I use better quality film, and all my installers do great work so thats not the problem. If you google window tint in my area my name always comes up.New guys are in the same parking lot next door to me,that's the problem.I'm a decent person and don't want to spend any time locked up so after the smoke clears and I've calmed down I'll just have to be smart and make sure they reap no benefits from my advertisement.I did see something here that I'm gonna do,I'm gonna add 1 more display board to my showroom that says $cheap 4 doors and $cheaper 2 doors and below that some purple film hanging from the board.Another problem with these people is you try to talk to them to see what they were thinking and the act like they don't understand you or even worse like whats the big deal and wonder why we just can't shake hands and be friends.

...why we just can't shake hands and be friends.

I've been in a similar situation, another shop about a 30 second walk from mine. Shaking hands and being friends with them was the absolute best thing for the situation.

If a car showed up at the wrong shop, we would let them know to go to the other and not steal each others work.

We were able to borrow emergency film from each other and handle each others overflow at times.

You can either make the best of the situation and turn it to your advantage or you can be miserable and blame everything on the situation.

:woowoo

Good luck with whatever happens.

I would go to war with those a-holes.... especially seems how you are offering tint as an accessory item..

let your main business support the company as it always has.. and do what you gotta do to make sure those guys don't tint a single car out of that spot.. even if it mean making tint a temporary lost leader
