a combination of the two is a winning choice. Heres a video of me using some over kill

that torch set up is bad ass! i wouldn't use it for film but bad ass none the less ...

I rarely use the torch but its very effective if you are doing an easy back window. The film usually lays right to the window and all you need to do is smooth the widgets out.
