remote needs batteries

stand your ground on this one mate, Ive had people try stuff like this, i have a simple rule, if i break it i pay for it, if i didn't you can kiss my a##, i would seriously doubt you have damaged an in-dash player, different if it was a rear mounted one in a RR or X5 etc, no way your at fault here

coincidences happen, i had a guy come up and code in a key on a van last week, after he had done it the van wouldn't switch off, turned out to be a sticky ignition relay, just a fluke it happened after the key coding

these thing happen

If the clock keeps resetting, there may be no permanent supply to the unit, this is what stores radio stations and clock etc...it may also power the remote side?

This is true, red and yellow wires are the constant & ignition hot wires. Some radios have in-line fuses on these. It could be the fuse. :cool
