You can get a clean cut box slitter from 44tools or zola, not sure how well it actually does though.. Filmhandler is well worth its weight in gold.

I boutght an aluminum channel from home depot that is shaped like a squared off U and would put that on the box top and use it as a straight edge to cut of the box. I have a film handler and use the 10 dollar aluminum channel more then the film handler. I think they come on 8 foot lengths so I just cut them down a few inches longer then the roll of film.

There is a threaded finger twist. Place the FH centered on the ladder and drill a hole throu the top platform and screw it in from under the top platform. There will be instructions with it if you get one

Cant afford to buy one just yet, i am just getting into flat glass, will buy one eventually.

Anyone got a pic of there own creation attached to a ladder or similar set up for cutting large bits of film on the job straight from the roll?

Some advice from a distributor. Spend the extra money and get a 72" handler. You can always put a 60" roll of film on a 72" film handler, but not a 72" roll on a 60" handler. One of our dealers wanted to save a few bucks and got the 60" and a couple of months later had a large 72" job.

clean cut slitter :lol2 I did a house last week that had many different variations in window size and i had to do alot of math in my head to try and cut off the roll without much waste and at the end of the day i think i had less than 10 inches of waste with the filmhandler, if i had been cutting out of the box i would have butchered my roll badly!

Good advice right there, we have 2 -60" and I now want a 72. We have a job next week where I had a 72" roll cut down 63/9. I hope I can get the 63" roll on the 60 " FH.
