Removing Metal Mirror Bracket

How does one remove the metal mirror bracket attached to a windshield? This is on my personal vehicle and just trying to decide whether to remove it or not to put a strip on the front?

I use a pair of piler's and a lighter.

Use the lighter to get the bracket pretty hot. Then use the plier's and every so gently. Give the mirror bracket a twist. If it does not come off some what easy the bracket is not hot enough yet.

to twist the old one off with a pair of pliers....

If you are going to re apply the mirror you need a kit made for glueing a mirror back on.

You can find a single application kit at most any parts store. I'm not sure how well this glue bonds to film. You might lower the button to where it's on glass?

And again be very careful removing that bracket or you will break your windshield.

I think I'll just stay away from doing this at all.

I just kind of wanted to do it to my personal vehicle to tint the windshield and and put a strip on without having that cutout showing on the glass as it looks like a big white square.

it is risky for sure. I would just look for a cool sticker to cover the bracket from the outside.

I'm not real sure how well the bracket would have heldup stuck to film anyway.
