I know Im probably in the wrong section but the consumer part hasn't had any activity in over a week and Im needing help/advice/opinions very soon.

Im stuck between Llumar and Madico tint. Im wanting 5% tint. The two ppl id like to tint my car use Llumar but won't go below 15%. The other guy Im not to familiar with is known around town for his tint jobs and tint numerous dealership cars but uses Madico and will tint 5%. Prices isn't really an issue as long as i get a quality install. Already had one tint shop do a chop shop job which led to them removing all the tint and a full refund. Prior to that i took my vehicle to these guys and showed them the install and what i disliked and wouldn't tolerate IF i gave them my business. So all three guys know how particular i am.

I haven't had time to research Madico in depth as id like (work) so Im hoping y'all could help.

I know each brand has different version/quality of tint. If you recommend Madico or Llumar, please specify what version. Last request, what version/model # tint would yall stay away from??

Thanks in advance for the help,

Klaus

I wish they wouldn't even make 5%...I don't think the two choices really matter chances are you are doing the entire car illegally which means that there will be no warrantly, no receipt unless the shop is derp-de-derp...also 5% will show every spec of imperfection so I hope you are completely understanding of what an acceptable standard tint job looks like. The two brands you are interested in, imo it doesn't mean much honestly, most major mannys are close on quality, hr, tser, imo it comes down to experience of the tinter. What year is the car and what type?

Guardian, it will be legal with my medical exemption. Over the past cpl of month I've looked over almost every car that I've seen tinted and you're right, it comes down to the tinter and his/her tint experience/prep work. I knew from the previous tint job what my vehicle is capable of.

I have a 2009 4 door Honda civic.

Tintjunkie, reason for the 5 is that i like the reduced heat and privacy. I've heard there is no significant diff between 15 and 5 but i personally felt the diff from when i had the two.

Appreciate the advice so far guys. More is welcomed.

Then you need to do more research. There are films out there with a 60% VLT (or less) that have a TSER of 63%, which blows many 5% VLT film out of the water. 5% is incredibly dangerous on the two front windows.

My idiot installer just put 20% on his windshield. Came by last night to show me what he did, and I grabbed a razor blade and scraped off the "Cypress Window Tinting" sticker off his back window.
