Problem with Venture Shield...

I've had problems before with the tunneling that happens in Venture shield, but this is different.

These streaks showed only slightly inside my shop, which is usually where problems show up easiest. I went over them with a heat gun, and they literally became invisible inside my shop. Pulled out into the sun, & whammo... They are quite visible. They have NO texture at all. Only viewed near the sun's reflection do they show up at all. Inside the shop, the hood looks perfect. I did all my squeegee pulls towards the sides, so it for sure wasn't anything like pushing a bubble out with the squeegee. It LOOKS like champagne, but that is easily fixed. This is something else.

Any ideas? The streaks are most noticeable on the drivers side of the hood, & previous hoods I've done off the same roll did not have this effect at all, so it seems to be showing near the end of the roll. I also waxed the hood, since it is Venture, so that didn't make it go away, making me think this is something goofy with the adhesive.

I will be replacing this hood piece, once I get a new roll of Venture on Monday. I'd like to try another film, but I read that bad report on the Xpel Extreme being tacky or sticky, which makes me very nervous about touching that. (Even IF I could get some) I really don't want to have 2 bad looking installs for the same customer, thank you. Why couldn't this have happened on a pearl-white hood, where it wouldn't show up?

I had the same problem, sometimes I try to spray alcohol(70%) under the film to remove the silvering marks.

I hope that helps you.

It is frustating when we face problems that should not happen in the first place.

Thanks for the reply.

Spraying the alcohol works if it's from champagne bubbles, like from catching & pushing a stream of bubbles along, or over stretching the film. But this film was not stretched AT ALL, & there were no bubbles dragged along under it. The streaks run from top to bottom, but I squeegee'ed sideways on the whole hood, so it's not from anything to do with the squeegee.

Just flawed material I guess, but it chaps my ass that I have to re-do a perfect full hood install because of flawed materials.

Just let us know if you need some 60" Norm, we've got some in stock. The adhesive definitely isn't as tacky as some of the others out there, but that is something best determined for yourself, as everyone has different preferences. Just keep in mind that you'll want to reduce the potency of your alcohol solution to 10% alcohol/90% water. :rasta

Thanks for the reply Jeff.

I want to try the new Extreme film, but keep being told it is not available yet... I've already worked with the Ultimate.

I understand that your film needs 10% alcohol. It is only my opinion, but I'd say the adhesive needs to be re-worked to be able to stand 50% alcohol like the Avery. I've fixed many potential problems with 50/50 alcohol/water when working with the Avery Nano, & there are reasons for such a strong alcohol mix. 10% alcohol to water is very conducive to getting bubbles in there. 50% alcohol pretty much will NOT champagne.
