Recommeded clearance

Folks, I had suntek DRDS installed on 200 sq ft total windows in my home, by a professional. When I observe up close I can see a clearance of 2-2.5 mm between edge of the film and window frame all around. Installer says it is manufacturer recommended. Is this correct? I have always seen films edge right next to window frame.

Any advice appreciated

There will be a gap, for window/frame expansion and contraction. The gap should be no larger than a credit card thickness for a experienced installer.

I think it's acceptable to see as much as a 5 mm gap. I would think that 2.5 is plenty acceptable.

I don't leave that big of a gap. But that is technicly acceptable by the IWFA.

My gap is next to nothing.
