New guy wondering how much $$ to ask for.

Hey guys, I'm brand new to to forums. Today at work I was asked if I would like to tint windows at the shop. I work for a big brand luxury car dealer, which uses Digifilm pre cut film. I said yes, considering this a pretty big step up from my former job title (detailer) This job would also mean that I get to work in my own designated bay in the AIR CONDITIONED side of the shop, so of course I jumped at this opportunity. Now on the point of my thread, I start training on Monday and they want me to start tinting cars on my own as soon as Tuesday, so I know money will be brought up sometime between now and Tuesday. Keep in mind the mark up on these brand new cars with window tint is about $1000 over ones without it. How much should I ask for? Generally every position in the shop is commission based, if that makes a difference. Any help/advice/ tips for a newbie would be greatly appreciated, thank!

I would go to work on tuesday with high hopes, and a good attitude. If You still have a job by noon of that same day, Your doing great! I would accept what they offer You, bust You azz for a year actually LEARNING how to tint, THEN ask for a raise. Good luck. You'll need it. :D

oh boy sounds like I'm in for a real treat. I've actually sat in on some tinting before, It seems like pre cut film is a breeze but the guy doing it might have just made it look that way.

Just make sure you aren't responsible for any damaged parts on the car.

If the tint looks bad after install, remove it. The longer is on, the harder it is to remove and it can take the defrosters off.

We'll those were the 2 steps that I was worried about. I have messed around with window film in the past so I'm not 100% brand new to it. I've watched a few videos and I'm confident I can pick it up quickly, Maybe not in 1 day like my manager is counting on, but still rather fast. There are SUV's that only need the front 2 doors done I will start with all of those before I tackle any rear glass so I won't have to worry about defrosters until I'm confident enough.
