VentureShield, what am i missing

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am a uk installer and have been using VS for most of my installation career (6+years) having started with 3M scotchcal.

My questions are as follows:-

I have read most of your posts and from what I read there arn't that many fans of the product, do we have different VS in the UK? are the other films that much better?

I am not trying to be confrontational or looking to start a film war just trying to provide the best for my customers after all they pay the bills.

Hi Steve

Before fusion with 3m VS was a very good product, but since no consistency and many problems like we all read.

Maybe in UK distributors have more of the original stuff. Don't know. But be sure if you start seeing a difference you might be headed in problems.

Yes in my point of view Xpel, Avery Nano, even Durashield from Sharpline (which I dont see on the forum) are much better products.

How do you like your patterns? Have Digital Design and Invisible patterns turn out to be a good fusion?

Hi Dan,

I have found the opposite to be true, the film seems to consistantly have a better finish since 3M took the reigns, hence my confusion. What sort of problems do you suffer from with VS. As far as the patterns go I only use IP and they are generally pretty good, the later ones being better than some of the earlier ones. I usually find out who designed the kit and then I know wether to take a roll of bulk material with me on the mobile installs. Having said that invariably there are adjustments that I make to most of the patterns. I have found problems with some patterns drawn in the US although I think this might be to do with the difference between designing and installation environments ie hotter, cooler or more or less humid.

I also have my own digitiser that allows me to add to the patterns or draw my own, the biggest so far was a complete wrap on a Scuderia 16M fully templated, although through a contact I have also templated various parts on last years Lotus and Virgin F1 cars and all of this years GP2 car.

what patterns do you use/find the most accurate, do you wrap edges where possible or stop short?

Steve.

Minty,

I think if you try the Avery Nano film, you will never want to go back. However, until they FINALLY get the 60" material in production, & get their production in line in the first place, you may want to stick with what is working for you.

In the main I am fairly happy with VS the only real problem I have with it is the bug staining, how do the other films stack up?

Steve

These bugs were left on at least a month and wiped off with hot soapy water

Hi Speed,

What film is that you are using?

Steve.

if I remember correctly..that is nanofusion

For the record people here in the UK are seeing EXACTLY the same issues with the various VS incarnations that you all are in the US.

I guess Minty ahs been lucky? We had a customer call us just the other day who had a number of cars done since 2006 in ventsureshield that had serious Bug issues. What he couldnt understand was that his Gallado done full front in 2006 was still as good as the day he had it installed. :boogie

Didnt have the heart to tell him because it was one of our jobs done by Ann, when we first started with full fronts and that car Is Scotchgard not Venture :lol
