I have a couple 1 inch pieces that I will put in the top corners when I pull the sides, top, and bottom....helps keep it from bouncing. Then just pull those out right as you trim that area...

I trim gaskets when it is needed. Alot of people pull gaskets and I have done it before but I dont like the glass bouncing around on me and dont want to risk the glass breaking if it falls off the rubber blocks if there is even rubber blocks there.

i pull the sides and bottom. Butt the factory edge up to the top if possible since you won't notice a tiny gap up there. Plus like as has been said it'll keep the glass from falling/breaking.

I trim about an 1/8th off, really just that lip that most rubber gaskets have where it starts to angle horizantal to the glass. And make sure its a clean cut, dont cut sections at a time. Just one uniform smooth cut from top to bottom.
