Get rid of the customers from hell

On occasion, when work is slow and I'm staring at 5 boxes of unused film, I have lowered my price. I may as well have put an engagement ring on that customer's finger. It never fails that they are the one that pulls out the magnifying glass and comes back the next day freaked out by "omg all the bubbles". Mind you I explain the film has to cure before I hand back keys, as well as tape the switches with tape that states "DO NOT LOWER WINDOWS FOR 48HRS. PLEASE ALLOW FILM

3-5 DAYS TO FULLY CURE". Only as the very very very last resort would I recommend lowering your price. If you don't absolutely have to, DON'T!!

I do that as well as have a mirror hanger from the manufacturer that states the curing process and have a care sheet printed up. it never fails you can almost pick out the ones that are going to be a pain and can't read

I would like to add that with keeping prices high. it not only weeds out the nit picking customers. but I do notice more frequent tips.

that would probably come down to the thought that your job is easy if you only charge $60-$100 for a whole car.

I also hate the phone calls about price. "you cant do any better than that" (on price) that gets my blood boiling.

I can handle Cheap and I can handle Picky. I just cannot handle them both at the same time.

If you happen to be both, feel free to Piss Off!!!

I am planning to make a sign with the above quote and hang it up in the shop.

Push quality film and quality installations. Set yourself apart with your higher price. Let customers know why you aren't the cheap guy. Adios bottom feeders.

My strategy, success. :thumb
