the Manufacturer will have the info to decide what film can work where. Many variables come into play such as type of glass, framing, what direction it faces, altitude, shadowing, to name somethings that can be factors!

I don't do FG but I read about some of the stuff in here and I know a little bit but I am going to ask some questions...

why nothing over 45% Energy absorbed? whats up with shadows on some of the glass, why do they come into affect?? And sealing windows?? why and what kind do you use??

I am asking and reading more in this forum cause I get a lot of calls about it and maybe I can start doing some on the weekend?? Is there more money in it that Auto??

1. The 45% rate.... I've always heard it a bit higher... 49/50%... Really though, it's what you are comfortable with. The thought is that films that are under that amount generally won't absorb enough heat to crack the glass on IG units. (Given that the window does NOT already have issues - ie. chipped edges, etc) Which is why darker, non-reflective films are not, generally speaking, DP safe. They absorb too much heat.

2. Shadows create uneven heating/cooling of the glass.... which would put stress on the glass and could cause it to crack.

3. Sealing windows... I've never had to do it - I think it's mainly for ext. films/safety films.

As for more $$ in flat.... all depends on what you charge for each. :D

Gotcha Thank you Roach.....I asked about Price cause I don't know what the going rates are and so forth...It seems to me like people would spend more money on there home or business than Auto...
