Just saw a rep from Solar Free. Says he's from NJ so he's way out of his neck of the woods down here in Kentucky. I've never heard of this brand before and just wondering if anyone is familiar with it. He says company has been around for 18 years. I will have to say that a lot of the literature looks like Sun-Tek stuff I've got laying around. Possibly a sister co. so to speak???

Yeah they have been talked about some on here I remember....The Website is down right now, But I have a sample I got still, Its Black Diamond I think the line I have a sample of....And to tell you the truth holding it next to Lulu ATR or Suntek Carbon or Madico it has just as nice of color and feel if not better....I am going to have to shrink it sometime on my car if anything cause it is in 50%...

To each is own it might be great looking but crappy....I'm not saying that though so dont take it the wrong way I just havnt worked with it at all.....

Someone else on here has been using the Diamond line for 4 - 6 years I think he said....Do a search on them.....

Edit...just looked at it......Its Diamond Black....not the other way around...I have a sample book to for there FG lines and they look really nice....

seem like every reboxer film is of eastern world decent. cargo ships full of crappy products.

Give David a break. He has changed to more reliable suppliers after CNC's partnership with China revamped a few years ago. At least, David is a honest chap. In all fairness, while some Asian countries make cheap trashy films but there are some outstanding factories in Korea, India and Japan who make some of the best window films for major private labels in the world.

Thanks for the replies. I may check into it. I'm usually the kind to stick to what works. Saving on my bottom line isn't worth losing custys later to a crappy film install.

Its hard to stand behind something and base " My Business " on when I am Iffy about it.....I want to stand behind something that I know is true and rare to have a bad roll or problem.....:twocents

I got a flyer from Soltek in the mail yesterday. They are probably cousins. The price was so cheap too. I have paid more per sqft in toilet paper. :lol2

I remember this brand...

How do you feel about it??

      IR or UV Coating on glass.

      The coating can be removed by "dry scraping" with stainless single edge razor blades, but it is very time consuming and tedious. The coating comes off like a super fine powder. If done correctly there is no damage to the glass and you can tint it just fine after a thorough cleaning. I scraped the drivers door clean after making the mistake of scratching the coating but I did not scrape the passenger side. After tinting you could not tell the difference between the two.

      Sure looks like auto glass technology is advancing. I remember the coating on Lexus and some Toyota models could be removed with a glass polish. It took some effort to get to the glass itself and that was an anti-fog coating technology. This IR/UV coating is looking like it is more robust. I wouldn't want to be the one experimenting with whatever product to attempt removal of it. The UV rating is 99%+ reduction, but they limit what they say about IR performance to: Mitigates sense of intense heat on the skin ... Controls rising cabin temperatures. The link is to a company that apparently is deep into providing glass with this coating and they certainly limit info. Take a look for yourself. This appears to be something that could/would expand to more brands/models.       We run our hand across the glass since you can feel the coating. Basically, if it does not feel like normal glass, assume it has the coating.

      I'm sure you are aware of this problem - that Lexus and some other manufacturers decided to install this super sensitive coating to the inside of the glass, that cannot be razor scraped at all. I had one a couple years ago and I had no idea what I was getting into you, and figured it was a one-time deal where the manufacturers realized what a stupid idea it was, & wouldn't do it anymore. Well, a week ago I had a brand new all electric Subaru SUV. It had the exact same thing on the front 2 windows - IR or UV coating that cannot be touched ! Didn't know about it & gouged the coating with my razor blade ... SO ... Does anyone know or have access to some sort of a complete list of these vehicles? I was informed by my sales rep that anyone using the core software from Llumar gets these notes about potential problems with the software - I don't understand why all Llumar dealers don't get the same updates. I was completely unaware of this and it's going to cost me quite a bit of money to fix it because even though I didn't do anything wrong, it did happen at my shop!

      Mutoh Plotter

      Anyone used/using a Mutoh VC-2 plotter for tint? I have one I am using for vinyl and want to buy a second cutter just for tint. I am familiar with the Mutoh and would like to keep my equipment the same if possible. Just looking for some recommendations on how it does. Thanks!

      If you have that many, trace a pattern and send it to DAP. They are super quick about scanning and uploading patterns. I have done this with a few custom patterns.
