Deep seals

Recommended Posts

How do you install film with deep seals on doors? I did a 2012 VW passat yesterday and had a hell of a time. Do you trim the film a bit short? If you do this it won't cover the entire window looking from the outside. Is this ok? If not, please explain how you do it? Thank you.

I just slide the film on a Passat. But I have been like tinting forever and could not begin to explain how I do it... I just do. Do you have a red devil?

I do have a red devil but never used it. Would you use it on the side seals? The bottom seals were not a problem as I removed panels. I had a problem on the sides.

:facepalm2 :facepalm2 :facepalm2 I think this is a DIY thing here....The easiest things to do which I still do a lot or some is....Tape the gasket back before cleaning window....Peel liner and put bottom of film in first than line up than squeegee out.....I sometimes use the push down method but it is pretty much the same thing as tucking.....its too complicated....Just pull the door panels or tape if not take to a real Pro..

Make up a bottle with EXTRA slip and spray just the seals and the edges of the film. I start tucking the film at the top with an ez reach while I lift the bottom edge of the film towards the center of the glass, this will feed the film to the edge as it tucks. I find this also helps keep the film taut with out pressure, especially if it's a tight tuck the film wants to walk inward creating excess film to finger in the middle.

Sliding in the edge has almost never worked for me except on old worn out cars. :dunno Maybe I cut too big.
