O.k. So I was taught by an old timer worked next to him for six years never asked a question to any one but him then I find this site I start reading and now I feel like an old timer with no idea about tinting. What's a micro edge trimmer?I always make my top cut and place film an 1/8 of an inch down I always wanted to know how to get that prefect damn edge with no gap? All you real pros break it down for me. How old fashion am I? What easy things can you tell me? I wet shrink I think I want to try dry shrink? Any thing will help me the man who learned me past away so I'm steping out onto the unknown here?

10 bucks a month and subscribe to here. You will find so much information it will make you head spin. Check out Flat Rock Stan's videos, both the free bits as well as look at buying some.

Microedge is simply cutting the film like you do but not moving it down much at all. 1/8 inch is a lot.....1/32 is more like it.....

Some let the film be over the edge slightly and then shave or file it....I don't, but I also don't have to compete with anyone that does.

Dry shrink is the only way to go 99% of the time and more like 99.9%. Check out videos of people doing it. I have one called "the Ryk Shrink" on youtube as well it made TTOW, tint tip of the week, on here.....

shaving and micro edging are different. micro edge is exactly that a micro edge meaning the edge of the film is just barely off the edge of the glass. so there is a gap but its not easily seen. shaving is hanging the film off the edge and shaving it with either a blade of a file leaving no gap.

There are two tools for cutting your microedge; one of them has a squared aluminum holder for a single edge razor blade and is simply :poop for framed windows (it's way old school), the other is a razor knife (e.g. Olfa, NT, etc).

Its all about placing the olfa knife blade in the right position atop the roll down glass and hold that position firmly as you glide from one side to the other. Some peeps stay on top the rounded edge and others ride the edge where polished glass meets the unbuffed rounded top.

Smartie is correct. Only thing to add to that, is if you decide to ride the very top edge of a rounded window, you must keep the degree angle the same or otherwise when you slide it down, it will be inconsistent
