Ok here is a question for the electronic wise members.....

I have small weekend home that floats on huge logs docked on the Columbia River that I'm at most any weekend I am in town. My cell service there is a no go. I have to sit on the front porch to get even 1 bar service with really bad voice service but very relaxing place to sit!

Now page 2...... Few weeks ago I finally figured out how to turn my cell phone into a mobile hot spot so I can surf TintDude on my iPad when I am out and about.... Turned the cell phone into a hot spot yesterday here at the river and have smoken fast Internet! Still can't get the phone to work with voice while on the water but can use the iPad to video call with FaceTime!

Can someone essplain in English just how this works? Wavelengths or something I guess??

Internet is different than cell signal, don't know how or why but I've been in same situation...if that is the primary address on your phone bill, I've heard by law, they have to set you up with a signal booster at your residence in order to make and receive calls. Call em up and ask. Sprint had to put an antennae thingy in for me on outskirts of des moines cuz of bad signal, after that, 5 bars all day!! I dont live there anymore but they said I could take it with me & use it here but we forgot it and reception is fine... They told me all carriers are required to do it...might be able to buy one if they won't give it to you, just an option...

Also have some friends that have a cabin in mountains up around seattle area(north), they got one to use up there cuz nobody could get signal, now its like being in the city out there, its weird...

If you've got a data then Facetime and iMessage will work on your iPad even when you do not have decent a cell signal because they use the data connection. Don't ask me why you get data signal and not cell... I have the same issue in some places too. If I have to talk to someone, I just Facetime or Skype in that situation.

You need to find out which version of Android you have and then go to one of the forums (Android_Dude.com) and look for tehtering threads. Android locks down tehtering every release and then these guys in the forums figure out ways around it. Ever-evolving battle that continues on...

Easy tether , in the play store, they have a free one and one thats like $10...used it for a year for tethering laptop to phone...
