7mil Exterior Safety Film Testing Video

The purpose of this video is not to take away from what any film system or manufactor can do, but to make sure we do not over sale a system. In every sale we should never let greed and desire get ahead of what the products and product systems can do. If you sale any product you better be using it and testing it your self. In this application the customer is looking for protection from vandals throwing bricks through their windows. Long story short there is 1/4 plate in front of leaded stained glass. We are only able to get to side 2 of the plate glass. Instead of telling the customer that Safety film would be a fix, I offered to do some mock ups to find the right fix.

As you can see this is not a good solution for the customer. So we are now going to do this same test with laminated glass and see how it turns out. If the laminated works better we will team up with a glass shop and go from there.

I was actually surprised it didnt fare better. Ive used it a lot, but always did double sided with 8 on the other side.

Still, it just put a hole in it and is still standing.

Good experience... something to keep in mind.

I alway got a kick out of the guys that do SS demos similar to that but they fail to let the film dry properly or framelock tempered glass. Many bats have gone flying through SS treated glass on live television.

Haha yeah.

There is a big difference in applying 1,000 of sqft of the film like most of us have, and actually seeing the products work. I expected a slightly better outcome than this, but it is pretty on for what the film can do with this application. We just all commonly think it can do more than what it actually can.
