will metalized commercial films affect communications?

old report but some claim that a metalized window film will block wifi signal as well as other signals into and out of buildings. how reliable are these claims? says both negatives and positives to this. but how strong of a block will it provide if someone is really trying to access information?

Depends on the metal used and how dense the layering or stacking of the metal; can anticipate different levels cell reception 'reduction' not loss with heavy copper or silver based film products. Buildings with steel structure are more prone, most espeically those located further from a transmission tower (antenna). Some resort to antenna insertion at a central location within the structure similar to what the article is talking about. To avoid the possibility in a building possessing a steel skeleton or structure a signal enabling film is better suited to maintain maximum signal strength.

Agreed..

I can add that sputtered films are more likely to block signals then vapor deposited constructions.
