This was PR'd today in a facilities mailer. See if you can figure out what price this job installed for per sf... Here are the specifics given. There is a way to do it. :reading

PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS

Building & Location: St. Joseph Medical Tower, 1010 West La Veta Avenue, Orange, California

Description: Seven-story medical building, with more than 750 dual-pane, argon-filled glass windows

Project Costs: $46,000

Product Selection: 3M™ Window Film—Night Vision 15 for performance, aesthetics and privacy

Energy Savings: $20,718 projected annual energy savings

Southern California Edison Utility Rebate: $19,796

Payback Period After Rebate: < 1.5 years

What I dug up after a quick search was $1.35 psf installed for rebate.

Which makes it $3.14 roughly. :dunno

Is discussing prices now ok? Even for a 15,000 SF job, and even if the windows are accessible and easy to work on, and even if the windows are a size which results in minimal waste when pulling the film, at $3.14/SF there is not a lot left over after the cost of that material and a typical cost for labor.

:thumb Nice. Now if they had to go with the custom rebate then it might bump the per sq ft up a little higher.

We're not discussing our pricing (film costs), we're just teaching some ways to do some backwards math to figure out what the going rates are. Yes, you are right... the margin is extrememly narrow.
