so I got one of these yesterday and found the brake light to be a pain.  Looked like it would be easy to pop down and or out but it would not budge...hopefully someone figures out how to pop this thing out but until then...

Here is my solution....

this is the un-wedged brake light....

the wedges

Have to fight to to get the film up and behind though...

I think the head liner needs to come lose first. Then you pull down on the brake lamp. I've only done 1 and it's been a couple months, so my memorie may not be exact. There is a post in the lamp that has to be lined up as you get the back tabs inserted. If that plastic post bends, it is impossible to get it lined up to insert.

easy car

side panels just pull straight back and remove channel,,,,,3 seconds

rear shrink =  3 - 4 minutes ,,,,,,,,,,,,,dry ,,,,,,,,,,no slip agent

brake light removal pull on headliner strong ,,,,,will slightly crease but will un wrinkle after you let go,,,,,use extension with long socket un-do 2 bolts ,,

carefully pull brake light off,,,kinda tight ,,,,,,be patient ,,,,,,dont worry it's actually pretty easy

tint it and put it back,,,,,

same difference in time ,,,,,,,,,,,if you take off brake light easy access to window but takes time to take off and put back on,,,

if you leave brake the light on,,,,,,,takes same amount of effort to slide it under .....all up to you to decide what kinda day you wanna have,,,,,,,,,,,,

hopefully a good one,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I did a new Caprice the other day and the brake light was just like this, but the cop I was doing it for said the Caprice is based on a G8, not Impala. I felt the car was pretty easy over all. I pulled a screw or two and was able to remove the sweeps, the sides channels were rubber but tight.

So, tint-wise, is the new Impala gonna be pretty much the same? Got one on Monday.

^ one more note, just minor difference there was a border around the brake light on the Caprice, but the rubber was right at the cut, so I loosened it up by pulling the headliner down, as explained.

Thanks for the tips!
