Has anyone got any tips on how to more easily remove the plastic surround that holds the internal door release handle?

It is such a pig of a design.

 

The bottom of it has a wire and the top of it has the world's nastiest clip that just doesn't want to come out easily.

The design ruins an otherwise easy door trim removal.

Don't remove it, just pull the trim off with it attached , it sort of pops 1/2 way off and just hang the trims on hooks.

It won't pop off Rocky because inside the top of the door grip handle, there is a big internal hook that slots in down behind the door trim into a slot.

Don't know what to tell ya Dev, by the time you read this you would have figured it out I'm sure, they are easy just don't do anything at all to that surround except clip it back in place later, it just removes with the door trim.

Glad it turned out well Dev, I used to do all the tinting for the local Mitsubishi dealer until the decision was made to go in house. I would tint Mitsubishi all day every day if I could, easy right across the range to both strip and tint.
