What's going on with my window?

Recommended Posts

I see this all the time.  Seal goes bad, and the space in between gets janky.  DP glass from the builder here in Texas goes bad after about 5-8 years.  We still do a lot of SP glass, one, bc its cheaper than replacing, two, bc SP lasts forever and can always be re-sealed should there be an air leak, and three, bc our winters are never cold (but also short) enough to warrant the use of DP glass.

Over the years, I have had a couple of clients that notice issues like this after the installation of window film. I personally think it was because the coloring in the tint brings out the flaws inside the glass. When the glass is clear, it's harder to see these types of failures. Problem is, pre-existing damage isn't covered by the tint manufacturer's warranty and tinted glass can void the glass manufacturer's warranty.

In the interest of customer service, we just paid for the replacement. Expensive day.
