Shaving edges with a file

Recommended Posts

So I recently started shaving edges. Its pretty easy, UNTIL... The file catches and gouges the tint. Where can I get set of files that are good for this. Anybody used a round file before, it seems like that's what I should be using. Or at the very least a file with beveled edges.

I have been using some needle files I picked up from harbor freight, but they keep snapping inside my apron.

I tried the knife method and I find it way too difficult.

So what do you guys recommend?

Use a flat file not a round one. Haven't got my carbon blades yet. Tried sometimes with Olfa AK but I find it slightly difficult, so I go back to file the egdes instead. Will practice more with knife on some spare glasses I have in stock.

Just be careful so the file don't catch to much material when you file, has happened a few times.

If the file is snagging the film, there is a good chance you are applying a little too much pressure on the area of film all at once unless you are trying to file the film without letting it tack up.
