Heat Shrinking

Im learning the black art of heat shrinking and making some rather slow progress. I know the shrinking occurs with the grain towards the factory edge of the tint. What do you do when you cut a piece from a very wide roll (ie 2 times the width of the window) - making the piece you are using only have one factory edge?

I am guessing either you use an appropriate width roll to begin with, or the factory edge refers to the grain direction. Is a cut edge useless to shrink?

Cheers for any help on this one. :thumb
