Chicago ILL tint law

Recommended Posts

Chicago was playing by their own rules for a while. When the law changed in IL to allow film on the front windows, Chicago decided that they had "home rule law" and would not allow front windows to be tinted. The state over ruled that (after Chicago made over 3 million in fines), so now Chicago is the same as the rest of the state.

I even got a ticket for having legal tint when I kept my boat in Chicago. I received it by mail, and was issued by a "meter maid".

I would have taken that ticket in and shoved it down their throats. How is a change collector qualified to write moving violations, nonetheless how did the meter maid, meter your tint?

In most places it's not a moving violation, but an equipment violation.  Like a headlight out.  Or broken taillight..  If there is a no tint law or 70% law, then a meter maid could give a ticket by visual assessment.  :twocents
