I used to take the bolt out too... The sweeps just come right out without much effort, saves time.

I do lots of these fusions , all 4 plastic covers and all 4 bolts with a 10mm on a drill are out in under 1 minute for easier sweep removal . A little hook tool is all that's needed with a good quick pull for the plastic cover on the "grill" side and it'll never break the tabs

And this is the clearance payoff for a clean install with at one simple removal which takes a grand total of 30sec

You ain't ever really worked on a car unless you super glued some crap back together.

We like hot glue at the shop, or two part epoxy

Not really an answer to your question but we don't take the panels off of the Fusion.  You can pull the top of the panel enough where you can pull the weather stripping out.  Use a hook tool to make it a little easier.  Saves a lot of time and broken peices.
