We used to do those solar screens here too. Those things look nice from outside but they block too much vision from the inside. When ever a potetial customer mentions those that's what I tell 'em. Blocked visibility gets 'em to go with tint pretty much every time. People don't want to lose their views.

one thing I hae noticed about them is when it rains adn they get wet, they are imossible to see out of untill the water drys up off them.

I always point out a couple of things when selling against solar screens

(have a 70% Solar screen sample) if you don't have a screen sample, don't bother talking about view

They do not block the UV

They mess up the view

sure, they cool the glass and frame, but measure the surface infront of the screen

the only way to measure solar screen perfrmance is by SC, SC is not a good measure of how much IR and TSE that is reduced.

They look ugly

I have screens, when was the last time they were down to cleen the glass (never)

Solar screens catch water in the rain, distorting your view badly

They do not come with a lifetime warranty

Screens that have a view, offer no protection

"I love Solar Screens, they would increase the performance of the film, where you need it. Honestly, film will give you more than enough protection from ______ here, and you will have your view and privacy"

These screens do outperform tint though, but only in TSER. When light, view, cleanability and life expectancy, much less appearance are taken into consideration, tint wins any day of the week, except in Texas.
