How much should I charge?

Recommended Posts

I've been tinting for 2 yrs now and just moved into a house with a 2 car garage. I tint full time at an established company in a big city.  What should I charge to start getting my name out there but affordable  to where if I mess up I'll won't lose to much profit and the prices won't scare  potential clients away.

I feel like 80-125 is good for a 4 door car and I generally  spend about 3 hours on the vehicle. I feel like 150 is asking to much but then the shop I work at average  ticket price is 350...

Think of it like this, you spend 3 hours on a car for $80-$125 per vehicle.  That is only $26-$41 per hour which can be seen as a lot when you compare it to regular jobs.  However, that is super low and once you add in film and tool cost, it is even lower.  If you start out low, it will be very hard to start going high because that clientele you are trying build will be based on those low prices.  Basically, don't be that guy.

Charge as much as you can.  I would price to

be the highest or pretty close.  You can either be known for low prices and get that crowd as custys (usually not the ones you want) or charge the most and back it up with install, film & service....its your choice.

We should all be trying to out do each other by raising our prices not by lowering them.  If you think your one of best tinters i think a high price is appropriate.

I don't think I'm one of the best tinters.

I've only got about 3000 cars under my belt. Still can't do a beetle or a c6. And I still mess up and I still don't know how to do a perfect tint job. I don't even know what style of shrinking I do..

$125 for for door....waaay too low.  That would be a good price if this were an unskilled trade, which it is not.  Just think that some charge that for only 2-front windows. When i found out how much more some guys were charging it really made me want to

charge more, especially since i knew my work deserved more $$.

Imo $150 should be the lowest price anyone could find for a sedan.   I would charge $200 if i were you using global hp.
