Llumar VS 3M Darkness

Recommended Posts

Hey what's up tinting fanatics had a question for you guys. I am about to tint my car and I had a question about how dark tints appear. So around me we only have 3M and 1 Llumar dealer. So I always heard ceramic tints were better, just how much more of a heat difference would I notice with the CTX over the ATC? What about darkness between these two, are they both relatively the same? I always have the option of 3M but I feel like they are much more expensive. What about the CTX 15 vs the 3M CS 20? Which is darker? I am trying to figure out if ceramic is worth it while also trying to get as dark as I can but not down to 5 where you can't see absolutely anything.

The only advice I can give is know your local laws. The tint shops should educate you on what's best as in demos or even a car that was tinted. Just because it's more does not always means it's better. If it was me I would be iffy on spending a good buck on something that's illegal and will need to be remove and re tint from tickets. That's more added cost. Good luck.

Yes I know the cops here aren't very strict on tint. They don't carry around any sort of meters or any of the sort.

The 3M CS 20 will appear darker than CTX 15.  Llumar film is actually lighter than the VLT on the box...CTX 15 is 18/19 out of the box so it can be 15/16 on the car.  3M CS has a nice black look which helps it appear darker vs Llumar having a charcoal look.  CTX is a huge jump in heat rejection over ATC.
