Ceramic coating

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I work at a high end dealership and we currently do PPF and window tint (and normal detailing) and are looking at getting into ceramic coating to offer another line of protection. Is it as profitable as ppf and or is it worth our time? And what are some quality brands? Any other info would be much appreciated.

Might be tough to get direction on this one here.

Most of us are film guys in some shape or form. (Auto or Flat Glass Tint and/or PPF)

Don't know how many detailers are around these parts.

Good luck though! Honestly hope to see an answer from a trusted name here.

I do them on the side. I don’t do ppf so I can’t compare profits. The biggest thing with coatings is the prep work. It’s an involved Job that I sometime wonder why I do it. Ceramic pro and gtechniq are two brands that come to mind. I like nanoskin mega trend too

It is worth adding to your protection side of the business....We do mostly full front ppf with Ceramic Pro Coating on the whole vehicle.  Get ready to be a detailer and it cost alot of money to be a detailer. There are alot of equipment to buy in order to be a detailer. I would recommend Ceramic Pro, CQuart, Opti-Coat, & Fylab as the top coating brand. It is very profitable....the only down side is that it take 2-3 days for any traditional glass coating to cure. You either have to store the vehicle for the client for those days or they must store it in door.

Do you Install ppf and then ceramic coating over the entire car including the ppf? We currently have a detail team that could install the ceramic coating as well, im just trying to think of ways to fill our schedules a little more.

It's totally worth it especially for you being at a high-end dealership it will sell itself very easily and customers may already know about it. It's true that it is all about the prepwork which can take much of your time but on brand new cars its much easier. You just have to become a certified professional applicator for the particular brand or you can apply non-pro versions but won't get as much money for it.

There are dozens but Ceramic Pro is probably one of the best. Followed by Cquartz, Opticoat, Gtechniq, Gyeon, etc.
