Residential question for light gaps???

I did some home Windows today do you guys leave a gap on window can i use black caulking or fine line black tape thanks guys?

I leave a gap as thin as my hard card. IWFA (or whatever the letters are) state there should be a tiny light gap to allow it to properly cure. If the film goes all the way to the edges it could curl.

I use the 5 way tool. If theres no rubber,  i free hand it.

Thanks blade all the way out or just a few clicks??? When free hand cut??

About 3 clicks or so.

Freehand  ...  blade tip only and the angle of the dangle gives me a fingernail thickness gap.

That's what I do unless it is some nasty wood frames that I need to avoid the edge.
