I have never done a tractor nor have I ever wanted to for the reason you gave.

however here is a partial list of cars I burned many feet of film and much time  at my expense until I was "the man"

porsche 928     my ego wouldnt let me walk away 3 times on 3 928s

94 saturn          waste of film see above

c6                     a fellow tintdude named blade shared the secret of the c6 its on here somewhere I think

94 cutlass         another waste of film

new beetle       this forum helped me save much time and film

the only one that was worth the time and expense for me was the beetle since I ended up tinting quite a few of them

bro you one pieced a cutlass? .....savage.

I have a list of ( pass on this one ) cars I will not do.if it looks difficult or hard to pronounce the name of the car.....send them on their way....way too many easies to work on....plus I'm retired now

if I don't like the way a customer sounds on the phone, pass........

good customers and easies  and ill do your project

Until the point I know I’m not making any money off it 😂😂 I’ve slowed myself down on booking so not having the extra pressure of that has definitely  helped, if I messed one window up or it didn’t look right it never failed the rest of the day was like that. I’ve noticed a big change, some cars I wouldn’t even do cause I knew it was tough but now I’ve been doing them an everything’s been easier

But what exactly is the issue for experienced installers? To have to do a window like this multiple times to get it correct seems odd. I have done several of these and have never had a problem. It’s all about the approach and preparation for this particular vehicle.

The usual issue(s) are, the phone is ringing, the wife is pissed, materials delayed the clock is ticking and some jackwagon just walked in the front door to waste your time talking about his crappy used 3series....all while you're trying to turn out good work on nice car...did I mention that it's also hot as hell outside?  Yeah, some days are definitely like that.

Totally forgot to add the random guy walking in! How could I?!? 😂😂 I do a lot of house calls, 25% shop work 75% house calls to give you an idea, an it never fails, the older gentleman with a nice corvette standing Right behind you watching or reaching up to help hold the film. I’m a very patient person but some have tested my nerves 😂

Just finished a 1950 Chevrolet truck.  rear 1/4 windows were tough.  I pulled one because of the way the seal looked and tinted it 7 times without success.  I tinted the one I left in place in 1 attempt.  I replaced the the window I pulled and and got it in the second attempt.   I probably would have quit earlier if I had not done these windows before.  Sometimes it is smarter to say "no".  I guess I am just too hard headed for my own good sometimes.

The other customers have to be factored in, you can either make the one C6 mad or all 3 or 4 customers mad. Some days i can't do stuff i do easily other days. 4 rear glass go bad in a row i'm done for the day, i don't think many of us would try 5.

I used to do a happy medium when I get a vette or VW bug in, I price it to where I’m willing to do it at, an I also say I’ll have it all day. The vettes I can got more often then not in the first round these days but the bug tests me, I’ll shrink either or until I get frustrated then walk over to the other car in line an work on it for a few until o get my bearings back, then go back to it

Exactly.  It wasn’t about what vehicle it is…it’s about the day you are having. Sometimes you have to know what to say when. There is money to be made.
