redneckj got a reaction from Jkatfelix in Blue Label Olfa Blades are back!!
You can buy the NT stainless blades. IMHO, they are as good as the old blue label Olfa blades. If your trimming PPF use the NT BD-20000 black carbon 30 degree blades

Huper has higher-end technology so that one is more innovative. However, between the two options, I would do the XPEL if it was my vehicle.

redneckj got a reaction from Tint Slayer in Filtering Tap Water and Cleaning Spray Bottles
This is a very simple filter for very little money. I think some installers might be installing in older buildings with older pipes. That could possibly be an issue with some shops. Filtering your water if need be is always a good idea. You can never go wrong with distilled water either.

redneckj reacted to CnCCustoms in Xpel.. great product, poor stock/customer service
So far it’s construction to me is great. And the customer service we’ve been given I have no doubts that “if” we have a failure it will be handled correctly. At the end of the day it performs great. Handles even better. And God forbid it has to be removed due to its adhesive. With the exception of global in my experience every other “big name” film fails and has their faults. We see llumar , 3m and suntek issues a lot come through the shop. And I’d find it hard to believe that all those issues with receipts testifying their origin were bait and switch jobs. No it doesn’t cooperate great with a plotter when your used to global lol. But other than setup switch. I love the film. And it added a great Ir ceramic to our lineup.
added: not trying to bash any other line. Just defending Xpel this far. Hope I don’t regret it in the future but I’m all but 100% confident that won’t be the case

redneckj reacted to CnCCustoms in Xpel.. great product, poor stock/customer service
No they don’t. From common knowledge it’s a garware product. But it’s definitely not the same color nor the same adhesive as global. The adhesive is actually stronger and faster setting. And the color has a more blue grey color across the board. Regardless who makes it. It’s a rock solid film

Get a longer file for longer cuts and save time-

i use these for the ends that go into the rubber if needed, thin and flat and good for fine control with a slight flexibility to it, could probably us it for all filing-

redneckj reacted to PRatx in PPF - is this normal?
few things that can be try.... leave it in the sun, light pass with heat gun , boiling water, light polish
if none of this works than replace.
it may be the top coat hazed from when the film is rolled or if has been "bend" - handle improperly when the hood was installed

redneckj got a reaction from TintDude in CE-6000-120/ adjusting blade depth and force for wondow tint
Your issue can be a number of things causing the cutter not to cut properly.
Dull blade or broken blade tip. I have seen a plotter blade last over a year and I have seen one fail in 3 days. I have had really good luck with the Clean Cut blades.
http://cleancutblade.mybigcommerce.com/graphtec-cb09u-25-m/
Cut strip. Is there a groove in it? Are there nicks in it? If your unsure replace it.
Cutter head. Is the cutter head tight on the guide bar?
As far as settings- I run my Graphtec cutter, when cutting tint on 35 speed and 15 to 16 pressure, on a new blade. The pressure will vary on the manufacturer of your film.
Once the blade depth is set correctly on a blade you should never need to change it. When the blade gets dull, up the pressure, don't change the depth. .
Good luck.

The Xpel for sure, I've sampled both films and the Xpel has a much better scratch coat.

redneckj got a reaction from Tint Slayer in no light to cut back window?
you can spray the matrix, on the inside of the car with white foaming glass cleaner before your cut it. Shake up the can of sprayway really really really good and spray. Makes the matrix show up like there is a light behind it. My 2 cents.

redneckj got a reaction from Diablo's Tint in XR plus 70%
I installed Xpel XR plus 70% on the windshield of my 4runner today. I am VERY impressed with the film. So much so, I wanted to start a post to talk about it. The film is not like any other 70% film that I have ever installed.
The film is thick. 2 mil vs the standard 1.5 mil. It shrinks very well, actually just like the XR or XR+ films that I have installed before. The added thickness makes the film install very nice. The film holds its shape better while reverse rolling it onto the glass. Actually it is the nicest piece of film that I have ever reverse roll installed.
Clarity. The film is very clear. During the install, I noticed the film was super clear. Usually WS film takes a while to clear up, this film was clear right away.
If you haven't had a chance to try the XR Plus 70% contact your local Xpel rep and order some.

☝️ Precisely why the scanners don't have much value...they can't. The difficulty in creating good patterns isn't getting the parameters of the bumper as it sits on the car, it's knowing where the kit needs to stretch, rotate, seam, etc.
