LB55 reacted to Tint Slayer in Facebook Groups
Been out of the FB groups for a bit. Seems like if you make a high quality video people think you're a guru.
Have an opinion of your own in reply to a question in the groups? Hahahaha
Have a technique you've used for decades and mention it? Hahahaha
Any idiot can start a group and they'll get followers. In the end the trolls always take over and destroy the groups.
That aside i've lost count of how many of my friends have split up in their personal life over something FB related. It's more like anti-social media.

LB55 reacted to TintJunkie in Approaching a dealership...
First find out if they are using someone. All you have to do is call the service manager and ask. If he isnt using anyone, ask him if he would be interested. Its that simple. If you get in, buy lots of headache medicine.

LB55 reacted to CUSTOM CONCEPTS TINTING in Professional Full Time Window Tinter Needed in Reno, NV
Custom Concepts has been in business in the same location, in Reno, Nv for over 20 years. We are the 2nd largest tinting, PPF, and vehicle wraps shop in the Reno area and run a clean shop! Custom Concepts does a good amount of local advertising. We generally rank in the TOP 1 or 2 in Google and other searches. With our continued growth we are looking to add an additional PROFESSIONAL Window Tinter that can cleanly tint 4 or more cars a day and that has a good attitude & actually wants to work!
MUST be willing to relocate !
*There is also room for growth into hands on management for the right candidate in the future!
By PROFESSIONAL: We mean EXPERIENCED, clean cut, good hygiene and attitude, care about the quality of your work, works well with other team members, willing to learn new techniques, reliable, minimal personal and family issues, Etc.
Custom Concepts
Reno is in an area with 4 seasons (Lake Tahoe is 40 mins away) and tons of outdoor activities for your off time! We stay very busy in the Spring and Summer (around 8-12 cars a day), and reasonably busy in the Fall and Winter (about 30% slower/ 4-8 a day). We have multiple dealer accounts that help us stay a bit busier when it is slow. We are ALL about Quality over Speed.
Main interview will be in person and will involve tinting a car, by yourself, cleanly, professionally and in a reasonable time.
Our Professional Tinters generally make $1200-2000 WEEKLY in Warmer months and $600-1500 WEEKLY in colder months.
We offer a *GUARANTEE of $500 weekly (*must work full 5 days) after 6 months!
Please call or send Resume with work experience to:
775-828-2444 ask for Rod.

Look us up @ CCRTinting.com
Even better, just search window tinting Reno, Nevada (see where we rank!)

LB55 reacted to ErieTint in Huge Shoutout and Thanks
Just wanted to say thanks @OverLord for his huge HUGE help on a 1995 C4 Corvette back hatch yesterday.
Burned up a couple pieces of (ceramic) film on my own and became super frustrated. Car has been sitting in my shop for a week while I mentally cooled down and debated how much more film I wanted to trash.
David was nice enough to stop by the shop and lend me a hand. When I say lend I mean he drove well over an hour each way to school me on how to tint a 'Vette.
I've not been doing this as long as a lot of you but days like yesterday give me hope. This truly is an industry of sharing knowledge and helping your fellow tinter. Hopefully I can put in as many successful years as some of the guys here.
Appreciate the help man, more than you can imagine. Tell Ann thanks too for being patient with us. My fiancé gets antsy when its "guy time" because she knows the clock almost seems to stop.
Next time we will have to catch up for something less work related, maybe when @jh812 is back in this neck of the woods.

LB55 reacted to KonSiva in Influx of installers in the industry?
If you look around..there are plenty of installers looking for work as well. But it has been my experience ... that many cases, most have been placed in positions where speed and high volume tend to override the aspect of quality many places that are hiring seek out. I also believe it is a service that requires a true artist's eye and a careful hand. I think many people lack the willingness and patience to learn. I know , between clear film and tint application..our shop tends to be booked about two weeks out all the time.

LB55 reacted to Tintguy1980 in Influx of installers in the industry?
Combination of an industry's aggressive training programs, old timers retiring, glass performance improving and a saturated market.
-
LB55 reacted to TomTint in Influx of installers in the industry?
Manufacturers are desperately trying to encourage existing shop owners to hire and train... the stock pile of future film buyers ...is getting low. Add to that..some of the chain store tint shops are selling a pipe dream to unwitting buyers..only for them to find that once a new hire is trained..they can't keep them locked up in the back room for 8.50 P/H...hence the huge turn over rate.
I have said it numerous times before. Being a "tinter" is no different than being a house painter, plasterer, lawn mower, carpet installer, or any other un regulated trade where a legitimate license is not required. .. That also adds to the derelict problem in the labor force.
I don't have the actual numbers, although I'm sure corporates have run them...on how many "tinters" are actual businesses as apposed to hobbyists. If I were to guess.. it's 1 in 60.. maybe worse..

LB55 reacted to flat rock stan in Precision Cut must buy llumar
Computer Cut will let you use any film you want. You pay a higher monthly fee unless you buy a minimum amount of film per quarter from Solar Gard but the patterns are the best I have found

LB55 reacted to JoshVette in Digitalizing material pattern
Go to walmart and buy some drop cloth in the paint section, it's like a clear garbage bag material. Use it to trace out your patter and take that template and put it over the PPF and cut it out. Should cost you all of $3 dollars.
