I am actually really glad i posted this. The responses have given me a new outlook.  I just blow it off now. I had a young guy call me boss about 5 times in a short conversation the other day. I was all I could do to not start laughing. He was a really nice kid though. I'm just going to start responding with " hey Tiger" haha  J/K

There is a lot of great film companies out there. Think about it. How many customers say I want LLumar tint. I’d say 2/10 customers max

If you bought it off another shop and not from the manufacturer or distributor you will not be an "authorized dealer" therefore you can't warranty your films through Llumar.  You are pretty much SOL unless you can go the Select Pro Dealer route like Dynamic mentioned. Try finding another film to love.

They gave me some samples, haven't decided myself personally about using them.

Not sure what you can do. I really, really like Vista's FG films. I started with them... then when I went out on my own I tried to carry them and was told the same thing you were. I tried a bunch of others and just kindof settled on what I think is just as nice of a film, both from installation wise as well as performance.

I want to thank all of you good folks in this forum for the tips and suggestions...I had my first one of these to do today. I was ready and willing to completely disassemble the rear of the car to make this one a success. A good friend of mine sent me a 17 minute long video of the disassembly process...I watched it and then another video comes up with a guy from Detroit who mentions he is going to give it a try without disassembly. His cutting software suggests that he plot the window, place it on the car and shrink everything from the wiper and above at the top of the window, then slide it up and shrink the bottom. Place it on the inside and you are good to go...well the first attempt didn't work well for him so he tried again this time not peeling the film and shrinking the bottom on the inside of the window first...Here is the link to that video:

I tried this method and worked like a charm the first time...no waste, no disassembly, no headaches. Done in about 30 min. Some of you here mentioned the same approach or some form of it...I am grateful for your help as always.

None of the films on today's market are difficult to install if you focus on getting your ppf skillset nailed down.  You'll find that the better you get, the less of a difference you find between products.  You'll just tweak your methods and solutions slightly.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you'd like a sample of XPEL film or software, or look into one of our advanced training classes.

LB55 reacted to DynamicATL in What is a good Ceramic tint?
Just to clarify a few things...

3M Crystalline is not a Ceramic window film, it is traditionally higher ranked than Ceramic films when it comes to the performance.  Huper Ceramic is the only patented Ceramic film with no added dyes to color it.  They do not hold a patent on "Ceramic Technology", just their specific Ceramic window film.  Ceramic films are not made equally, so they all have different build qualities and there are plenty of cheap quality Ceramic films on the market.

If you are looking to match your rear windows, Huper Ceramic and 3M Crystalline won't do it.  Huper Ceramic has a silver reflective look while 3M Crystalline has a brownish look...either one will be noticeably off from the back.  Some good options that will match to the rear are Llumar CTX, Formula One Pinnacle, Formula One Stratos, Global QDP Ceramic, and SolarFX FXtreme2.

The number 1 thing you should look for is quality installation.  A high-end film will not be a good option if it is not properly installed.  So stop by shops to check out their work, see how you feel talking to them, check the display, etc.

I started tinting in 1984.  I have used just about every kind of tint at one time or another. I am  currently and installing Xpel XR black.  GREAT film.  The adhesive is perfect.  Depending on temperature and which window I am installing, I use Film ON or J & J baby shampoo (the new formula).  TBH, the Xpel films  hard coat is the best I have ever seen.  The film dries out fast and I have never had a complaint about "low angle haze".  Also, they have plenty of percentages available to meet customer needs.  Give it a try.

Just search Xpel and look for the window film threads...multiple threads including one you started before, all saying nothing but good things about it.
