  1. Unfortunately they are right. It looks like the defogger came off with the film. It's very rare for this to happen so it could be a poorly made glass. I wouldn't entirely put the blame on the tinter other than the poor first attempt, they were likely relying on the like 99.9% chance the defogger isn't going to come off with the tint. I've had cars where sometimes they come off with a towel or scrub pad. It sucks when you step on that landmine.
  2. I’m a little biased because it’s what I’ve used for the last 10 or so years, but you can’t go wrong with Llumar.
  3. Here's some video where you can see shrinking both with the film rolled across the glass and up and down.
  4. It can be better. If you got a deal, you got a deal. If you paid a premium, go get it fixed.
  5. You can still pull the panel back. Just be careful because the panel is thin and the part that locks in is likely glued to it.
  6. Sorry. I didn’t realize you were trying to buy. I was just letting you know my Graphtec has been dead reliable.
  7. I have had my Graphtec FC8000-100 for at least 10 years. It has been darn near faultless. I’ve replaced one part and once I got the settings right and stopped trying to run multiple materials through it, I go years without changing anything.
  8. Ascent, Compass, Tiguan, Explorer. Super exciting day.
  9. Here's a quick video on what I do for the front doors.
  10. I agree. If I was trying to tint a car to perfection, I'd still be tinting my first car 23 years later. A little speck here and there is expected.
  11. If you are hand cutting out the film sideways so you are shrinking by the post. Make your pattern and then step it about 1/4” from the post and wet shrink it sideways. If there it too much film, shrink some on the post side, then move it over and shrink some on that open side. Soap and H pattern isn’t really for this application.
  12. I tinted this gem. “I got all the tint off except a little bit on the back window”
  13. Tinted a 2022 Civic. If you thought the old civic was easy, somehow this is even easier. I have a video uploading now if you haven't seen one.
  14. Busy shop looking to hire someone who has an eye for details and doesn’t need to be baby sat. Take pride in your work and be rewarded. Pay will depend on ability. Message me here or email sean@lomasglass.com
  15. If 2021 hasn't changed since 2020 there's nothing much to worry about. Pretty basic cars
  16. A video is worth a million words. I like to take things apart to make things clean and easy. I've started compiling videos of me tinting. If you want to watch some you will see how I handle various situations. This is assuming you are talking about tinting cars. https://www.youtube.com/user/sduquette2
  17. I didn't notice if there was any videos in this thread, but I made one today if anyone wants to see how I take them apart. Really only takes about 10 minutes if you know where you are going with it. https://youtu.be/HbuiDg5FeBY
  18. I've done so many I can get the spoiler off in about 10 minutes. It gets faster. If you do an H pattern set your line low just above the wiper and it will shrink easy.
  19. If you are talking about refraction of light on the defogger lines, I'd say leave it and you will probably get used to it. It's like that on most cars with film, though some more than others due to angle of the glass and thickness of the lines.
  20. Can you take a full picture and a picture of the brand of glass. That looks a lot like when someone tries to scrape a sticker off of the outside of the glass with a razorblade. See it a lot on replacement windows.
  21. Found it. I bet it takes longer to ship than it lasts in the sun. https://www.ebay.com/itm/151381533809 Edited by Roach: I hope you don't mind... took all the cookie tracking off the URL. I'm OCD about that stuff. lol
  22. I actually some dude in a VW with something like you're asking about. I'm sure it's some Chinese internet garbage from eBay, but it was definitely a film with a gradation at the top.
  23. Trying it out. After using PC4 day in and day out for years, it's a bit of a change up. How are you guys liking it?
