Cars are easy money. I’m fine and dandy making $300/hr.

I’m a little biased because it’s what I’ve used for the last 10 or so years, but you can’t go wrong with Llumar.

It can be better. If you got a deal, you got a deal. If you paid a premium, go get it fixed.

You can still pull the panel back. Just be careful because the panel is thin and the part that locks in is likely glued to it.

Sorry. I didn’t realize you were trying to buy. I was just letting you know my Graphtec has been dead reliable.

I have had my Graphtec FC8000-100 for at least 10 years. It has been darn near faultless. I’ve replaced one part and once I got the settings right and stopped trying to run multiple materials through it, I go years without changing anything.

Here's a quick video on what I do for the front doors.

Agree with the above statement.
As to tiny spots, well, perfection is the target and fortunately we humans fall short on occasion. Yes that reads correctly.
If there exists one or two tiny specks from airborne dust, per window, they are considered as a norm. To achieve absolute speck free on an entire vehicle would be astronomically more costly to the consumer given the amount of material needed for perfection.
And what is least known, is the industry standard has been set viewing an install 6-feet away from the glass surface. Now this doesn't account for a consumer's keen eye and finger- or nose prints on the glass, but it (one or two tiny specks) is what was adopted as normal by voting professionals some years back.
Take the thing out for a spin through the mud or dry lake bed and it's quite likely they will not be a problem any longer.I agree. If I was trying to tint a car to perfection, I'd still be tinting my first car 23 years later. A little speck here and there is expected.

If you are hand cutting out the film sideways so you are shrinking by the post. Make your pattern and then step it about 1/4” from the post and wet shrink it sideways. If there it too much film, shrink some on the post side, then move it over and shrink some on that open side. Soap and H pattern isn’t really for this application.

A video is worth a million words. I like to take things apart to make things clean and easy. I've started compiling videos of me tinting. If you want to watch some you will see how I handle various situations. This is assuming you are talking about tinting cars.

I didn't notice if there was any videos in this thread, but I made one today if anyone wants to see how I take them apart. Really only takes about 10 minutes if you know where you are going with it.

Just did my first too.
Thanks for the information regarding spoiler removal. It was helpful.
Pain in the arse job and will definitely be quoting serious dollars the next time as I think it took me close to 2 hours from start to finish just on the rear glass.
I've done so many I can get the spoiler off in about 10 minutes. It gets faster. If you do an H pattern set your line low just above the wiper and it will shrink easy.

If you are talking about refraction of light on the defogger lines, I'd say leave it and you will probably get used to it. It's like that on most cars with film, though some more than others due to angle of the glass and thickness of the lines.

Can you take a full picture and a picture of the brand of glass. That looks a lot like when someone tries to scrape a sticker off of the outside of the glass with a razorblade. See it a lot on replacement windows.

Found it. I bet it takes longer to ship than it lasts in the sun.

I actually some dude in a VW with something like you're asking about. I'm sure it's some Chinese internet garbage from eBay, but it was definitely a film with a gradation at the top.

Trying it out. After using PC4 day in and day out for years, it's a bit of a change up. How are you guys liking it?

Unfortunately they are right. It looks like the defogger came off with the film. It's very rare for this to happen so it could be a poorly made glass. I wouldn't entirely put the blame on the tinter other than the poor first attempt, they were likely relying on the like 99.9% chance the defogger isn't going to come off with the tint. I've had cars where sometimes they come off with a towel or scrub pad. It sucks when you step on that landmine.
