  1. Yesterday I had a customer bring his truck in to put tint on a new sliding back glass that he had to have replaced at the local GM car dealer because it was leaking water. The plastic cracked on the origional one which allowed water to come inside the truck. I had two used and recently purchased 21 and 22 GM and one Chevrolet pickups in here that I decided to look at closely and sure enough, they both showed signs of water leaking from the tops of the rear sliding back glasses. I even squirted water from the outside and discovered that the water easily ran down on the inside of the trucks. Just a heads up to maybe inform your customers who are unaware that their truck windows are leaking.

The manufactures know they have an issue and admit that the plastic was inferior that was used to make the sliders but will not be issuing any recalls. That means it’s up to people to discover the leaks on their own and hopefully get them fixed if they are still under warranty.

Aw come on, it's almost done. A few more strokes and you'll have the rest of that film layed down. :lol

HA! HA! That crap had to go! But on a serious note, I cleaned all the old off and called it a day. Went home and contemplated my ways and came back this morning to finish it up. GOOD LAWD!! Been YEEEEARS since I’ve had to spice one together! Ugh!!

I remember propping up one of those rears with a stick one day, knocked it loose and nearly cut my career short when the latch spike fell on my back...good times.

    :imok

Unfortunately, I’ve had many hatches fall on my head in these long 40 years. Mostly Camaros and TransAms. No fun and games there I tell ya! Part of why my neck is so jacked up? That and the fact I fell out of a 4X4 truck in 2001 and landed on my head nearly breaking my neck. Was supposed to have neck surgery in 2020 but not going near hospitals for now.

  3. Yes, too picky on the fact that the film is not coving the ceramic coating all the way on the rear hatch. The thing is is there is no daylight. I for one do not like to lift the film and move it once it has been laid on the glass of a window with defrosters because it will leave ghost lines in the glue on the film.

Now the door panel is not melted but appears to have had something put pressure on it an cause a dent. Could possibly come out after the sun warms it up for a few days and cause the contraction and expansion?? Or not. Did the tinter do it or was it already there? Who knows.

  4. In talking with my husband today I am trying to decide wether I should buy up some film to have on hand for the year or not. Our local car dealers have no new cars/trucks and the used cars are sparse. I am experiencing fewer new cars and fewer appointments for tint work. What are you guys planning for and what is it like in your areas?

OR SHOULD I JUST PUT ALL MY MONEY IN SILVER AND SIT BACK??

That was a factor in me switching from 3M to Xpel, seems like 3M was hitting me with a price increase almost every quarter there towards the end. Made the switch almost 2.5years ago and have only seen one modest price increase from Xpel and their film is much better all around in my opinion/experience.

Where is Xpel made? When you order how long does it take to get to you? Is it a black/charcoal film or is it brown toned film?
