2023 Honda Accord
pbalentine replied to smookee408@yahoo.com's topic in Window Tinting - General Discussion
The civic BG is the same. Seems a lot of BGs are steeper with higher decks. I now charge Sedans the same price as a full size SUV. Also, more sedans require 3rd brake light removal. -
I would just take the entire panel off. The days of seal pulling are over pretty much. The older gens where the panel could be pulled back now have a deep lip/edge that wraps around the seal, not allowing the panel top edge to be pulled back. Chevy did this in the latest generation.

Back window contamination

If the deck is plastic I make sure the edge is wiped clean. Any deck with fabric I tape it off or put a towel there. -
Will these water bubbles go away

Shop didnt mention it needed to dry out?? Everyone should mention the dry time. Its funny when I point it out to the customer and mention the dry time, only have them call 5 minutes later to ask about it? -
Yep, and just no follow up. I dont care how clean your work is, if you dont double check it you could be leaving stuff behind.

New window tint questions

Gap is the opposite on how it should be? Instead of 1/4” tucked, its a 1/4” gap. Maybe a confused dealer tinter?? -
Try using a liner for your pattern. Just trim it exactly to the outside of the glass. Then place over your piece of film and trim exact or outside the pattern for more film to tuck.

Their panels are the worst to remove, even the new ones. Id rather remove panels on an Audi. Chevy lost it way. I never tint their stuff because nobody buys it.

Sounds like the cable came off the handle pull.

Windshield usually have some imperfections. As long as your main field of vision is clear I wouldnt worry about it. -
Get ready to remove every panel. Seems there not one car I can tint now with panel and that isnt pure misery. Ahh this jobs sucks, but I love it

What does it mean to tint the full car?
pbalentine replied to TrafficJam's topic in Window Tinting - General Discussion
A full tint is all side windows & rear window. Additional options such as the windshield, visor strip, & sunroof are priced separately. -
The IS250 are miserable to tint with panel on.

Is some daylight acceptable?

The panels on Hyundai & Kia come off easily. I remove all of them. Most new ones you can pull the top seal by removing one screw behind the handle. Most vehicles now I get the window down flush it and hard card the sides and top with a towel. -
I swear these post about install should not allowed. There useless as the customers know they arent happy and only the shop can fix the issue. I never saw these post nearly as much back in the day. That because the first reply always was, “Call the shop”.

Before removal, mark outside edge, so you can match that extreme micro edge gap.

I believe on the Ram 20+ theystopped covering the computer module on the drivers side under the dash to the far left. You’ll want to cover that. Also, put two soak ropes and dont use the mini rope. Its too small and fits loose.

Probably too much slip and it shifted.
