  4. Maybe I’m out on a limb here but......20k? C’mon man, that’s some BS and you know it.
  5. that’s the one. One of the ladies came in while I was installing and said “That looks great” then I hear her in one of the back offices whispering to someone “I didn’t know we weren’t going to be able to see out”
  6. Little bit of DR-35 & 25 Customer went from hating the idea of film to adding it to most of the windows once she saw it.
  7. Did this last week. Thought it turned out classy. Clear Frost
  8. It is cool stuff for sure. But from a practical standpoint if that actually could be implemented into a film product, wouldn’t it prevent visibility? Also on that same idea, wouldn’t the heat absorption be astronomical since no light is refelected/transmitted?
  9. I’ll go out on a limb and say no.....but maybe
  10. That’s definitely one perk to being in this area and working in the window business. Views for days and days.
  11. If your sole argument is that solar won't be around forever then I think it's safe to say we agree, I guess we just differ on the rate of decline, as they apply to us individually. The standards of new construction in metro america are light years away from Everyday, USA. Triple pane glass is no where even close to the standard here, so I dare say a quarter......if not half of the country even knows what low-e or triple pane is. I do agree that a hefty percentage of the metro/commercial solar will dry up and I am thankful I didn't model my business around that percentage.
  12. My main point here is the model we each operate in is completely relevant to the projections we give on what the market is doing. So a conversation about the future of the industry between you and me may be compared to a conversation that Amazon would have with a local general store. Both are talking fruit......but it's apples and oranges. Wonder what the kumquats take on this is.....
  13. Serious question here Tom, and with all due respect. Do you think that a business model of getting the most work at the lowest price could have something to do with the overall negativity and outlook on the market? Because after all a cut throat volume business is typically at the tip of the spear when it comes to vulnerability in market shifts.
  14. Still have my old office chair I took the back off of in the shop. It gets shifted around and occasionally ran over, but it’s the official “bullshit” chair for whoever stops by for a beer after work.
  15. It’s a really cool place actually. Didn’t get any other pics because the owner, also really cool dude, was hovering around the whole time. Half of that wall is a sliding door panel. It’s hiding a guest bedroom from the main foyer, all welded steel frames, super clean and definitely custom. The building is an old converted mill in the heart of downtown and spans pretty much the whole block, so he’s sitting pretty on the commercial rentals alone. Think he owns a brewery in there as well. The whole place had really unique touches to it, never really liked the idea of living downtown but I think I could make a place like that work.
  16. Find a job as a shop helper, work your way up to installer, in the meantime take business classes and in a few years you may be able to start putting together a business plan. Really think thats the the best advice I could give to someone wanting to get into this business.
