  2. Hi, see you are a moderator now, nice congrats. How are you doing?, have you been busy?.

As far as busy...Ohh yeah . Thanks to all the covid rules here in Ontario   a year or so ago I was asked to put my installer hat back on "until we caught up" because some on the install team did not get vaxed. For some they just did not want to be anywhere near "the public" even though they were  vaxed themselves.  Just got back in the shop again but in production  for now....we service our cross Canada dealer network for print and cut projects... no time to poke around on TD like I could before.

Just good timing I guess to become a mod. I generally poke around here for 15 mins before leaving at 6 am to head to the shop and sometimes before bed. Let Ric know about some scammer posts here and there. I think Ric asked me if I was interested because it gets rid of scammers faster due to time zones.

I often see your shops posts on LinkedIn . Its good to cover all the different aspects of film work Auto and Architectural!!

Our shop is 99% Architectural with just a few Media companies that need trailer wraps. We don't really touch vehicle tint or wraps much .... although we did wrap a brand new  Evoque once for the Transporter tv series ...but it was literally blown up a few days later after the "product placement" and key scenes . I guess there won't be a call for warranty work.....

      Sorry for the novel.....

      Have fun out there!!

Hey Darryl, Sorry for the late response. When covid hit i was at home for 8 weeks and then slowly came back full time, I am the oldest person at the shop... Lol. We were and have been busy with Safety Film with most having the attachment "IPA" "IPP"as well.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   As far as other work, graphics has picked up more and more since the pandemic had started. However with a lot of people working from home still it has not been the same.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     BTW, my profile pic is me. however it was taking with a filter that adds 25 years Lol.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Mike.

      All good Mike.

Our shop found that a lot of the people now working from home caused them to realize their need for solar film  because back when they were at the office all day they had no idea how much an effect the sun was back at home. Big problem was "cooperating " with local covid laws made it interesting getting work scheduled.

As soon as the opportunities came to get access ....ALL of them wanted installs "today". We had to go with first come first called to book the install and in the message was a note that first returned call would be booked . Scheduling was loosing hair lol.

On a side note ...with our Feather Friendly installs being seasonal and exterior we kept almost all of the install crew that stayed on board  busy and this got us in a great spot with those clients.

Yes that's me in my pic as well .... the chest hair and tats are part of the "ugly Christmas sweater" the rest of the ugly is me.  May be time to update to something more summery.......where is my thong.....

  3. I am a little confused here, if you are using a reflective film you should have notified them that the installation would be requiring caulk on the edge of the film required by the manufactured warranty. I am thinking that they revived other bids more expensive than yours that stated so. what are your thoughts on this......?
  4. They benefit banks and gas stations and so on, that being they will have the ability to control visibility inside and outside day or night as film cannot.
  5. I will explain why i think not enough slip was used, years ago I was installing security film that was rolled on the core backwards with the liner side out from the factory and it was an in-shop job with beveled edge glass. the film was lifting off the glass so I had thought lets see if just strait water would do the trick. It helped lay down a little more but not much, however when I came in the next morning the film had consistent water bubbles in the film. your pic reminded me of my situation. question for you . did you just do a vertical pass while squeegeeing the film. if not was a vertical pass done first or last.........?
  6. A couple things to that could be happening, if you leave your tank under pressure all of the time, i have seen the same issue as in clumps of something developing in the filter and the tip of the sprayer as well as temperature can cause this as well " not using ultra tint slim ", perhaps the maker of Ultra Tint Slime could better answer this. How do you know that the ceramic film is delaminating..................?
  7. From what I can see in the pic, looks like not enough slip was used during the initial install. should dry out in time
  8. We donated this job. 9. I wish you would have posted the pics or had stated that the rear window had the same as the side windows at the beginning, hard too make an informed decision when not all of the information is provided, sorry to say that the tinter is at fault on this matter from what i can .
  10. Did you bring that up with the company when you were there complaining about the side windows......?
  11. If just water is used it will leave very small consistent water bubbles throughout the hole window. I do a horizontal pass at the top and then a vertical pass down the center and then work my way out to the sides, not always to the edge if you are trimming the film, just up to were the film is lifting of the glass so not to push the water to the frame and causing contamination issues . If you are trimming the film. Then I wet the film with a mist of slip and then I start at the bottom and do horizontal passes at 70% overlapped passes. Keeping the edge of the film and frame dry as I do so. When I get to the top and done I run a white teflon card around all of the edges of the film at a 45 degree angle to remove any remaining water trapped on the edge. Mist the window and squeegee it clean and dry the edges and the frame and done. If you feel the need go back after awhile and look at the window any water left behind do so on angle and see if you see any bubbles and if so push them out.
  12. Thanks everyone for taking your time for the advice and also to alberts316 for the offer on the pre-cut kit as well. I do have a question on the ceramic coating, the car has been coated with ceramic on the paint, will that affect the adhesion of the PPF....?, I do like the idea of applying a ceramic coating to the PPF as that makes sense for the easy removal of bugs that I did not think of doing. Should I try and bulk the front bumper as in one piece , I think is the right term from what I have been reading........? ......... I do plan on doing the door edges as well, that I feel the most confident on doing....Lol
