You're very welcomed. We had a nice time helping you out. If you need me I'm always available.
Maybe we can all get together and meet up at Cedar Point for some all day rollercoastering. If @jh812is up to it.

Just wanted to say thanks @OverLord for his huge HUGE help on a 1995 C4 Corvette back hatch yesterday.

Burned up a couple pieces of (ceramic) film on my own and became super frustrated. Car has been sitting in my shop for a week while I mentally cooled down and debated how much more film I wanted to trash.

David was nice enough to stop by the shop and lend me a hand. When I say lend I mean he drove well over an hour each way to school me on how to tint a 'Vette.

I've not been doing this as long as a lot of you but days like yesterday give me hope. This truly is an industry of sharing knowledge and helping your fellow tinter. Hopefully I can put in as many successful years as some of the guys here.

Appreciate the help man, more than you can imagine. Tell Ann thanks too for being patient with us. My fiancé gets antsy when its "guy time" because she knows the clock almost seems to stop.

Next time we will have to catch up for something less work related, maybe when @jh812 is back in this neck of the woods.

If i can't just pull back the top and pull the seal out easily, i use the Xpel EZ-Tint tool to bottom load. I used to use the Gasket Wizard every now and then but one day i tried this, another new tool, and actually liked it instead of just being distracted by it (you know the deal with that lol). They should make a small, mini or short 6" version with more bend for tuckers because the notch on the ends open the vertical rubber pretty decent when needed.

For some reason the search function doesn’t seem to yield the same results as google for threads on this forum. If you can’t find what you’re looking for search through google with “tintdude” included in the field.

I do a little dealer work, but only for salesman that want quality. And I tell them to pass my number on to their customer. So it keeps it strictly retail. Even used car lots I won’t budge on my price. They keep sending me work. It’s not a lot, but it’s recurring. Screw net 30. Screw having to set aside a $300 job for a $100 job. Screw pushy salesman that don’t even know what they’re selling. I’m lucky in that I don’t need to push dealer work, retail keeps me busy enough.

Ive used slip, dish soap in bottle and sprayway.  IMO sprayway is best for many reasons. No filling bottles, floats contamination and squeegee cleans better, and the film tacks better, since there is alcohol in it. It also breaks down some adhesives for removal like an adhesive remover does.

    Old thread but, I'll bite.

AS system is used to identify the federal testing standard the glass meets. I believe there are about 13 standards to which you rarely if at all would see above AS-3 on passenger vehicles. The location of AS-1 on a windscreen has more to do with marking critical viewing area than being in alignment with the rear glass. The area below AS-1 is considered critical viewing area.

Those wanting to tint see the tools and think it looks fun and its a cheap start up.  You need tools often and theres much more that you need than tools. To learn on your own might take 3x longer than getting trained at a shop.  If you are looking for and easy business that wont frustrate you...you’re looking into the wrong trade.

ever use the Blue Quick Foot? the small end is the little version of the big end, just mentioning in case you wanted another tool to distract you from the tools you already use successfully, i have a whole box of those.
