Worst case scenario would be the layer pulled could take the scratch coat off the original layer. Simply fingernail prick an edge of the second layer and pull; save a buck or two.

0000 steel wool on defroster windows and blue scotch bright for all others.  Only scratched my own window on the outside 1 time.  Was dirty and I scrubbed it.  The dirt was what scratched the glass,  I'm quite certain.

I scrub with a dobie pad and scrape with a gator blade. Only thing I scrape with a razor is stickers.

Why do I do this to myself??? I let folks talk me into booking their cars new years day. The first one for 8 am didnt show until 10 am. Fortunately one of my xmas paid jobs showed up. However....the other cars scheduled have not showed up and havent even called. NEVER AGAIN
I even had folks talked me into booking them Christmas Eve plus I also turn down work I could have done Christmas Eve for other folks. I arrived Christmas Eve to work and absolutely no one showed up! People are so unreliable these days yet they will gripe about small business people not being open and available to them whenever they want. I've done my time through the years at the cost of my health sanity and two marriages. NO MORE HOLIDAYS FOR  A N Y O N E. I dont care if they go elsewhere....GO!!! No more skin off my nose.

Don't squeegee towards the bottom, squeegee along the bottom. And if you lay it up outside wet and stretch it out right you should only have fingers up top in the dots to shrink. Hardest part of the window is laying it and cutting the defrost tabs out right.

So finally got around to trying Vvivid Headlight Films, it is the exact same film as Luxe.  Luxe has an updated version now, but the original I was ordering from them is the same.  Good news is it is almost half the price.

A good tip is to clean your peel board and the film. I like to wipe the edge of the film 6-8 inches    I normally don’t clean the middle of the film. When getting to the end of rolling, let the last 8 inches hang and relax, then slowly slip the liner out. Watch it closely. If it touches the glass, shoot that area down with water. Then finish install. 

One thing to keep in mind in terms of quality of material - a lot depends on where you are located, the kind of sun you have, how long your summer is, etc. A film might last a lot longer here where I am in Jersey then down in Florida. Many more factors to go into why a film would fail then just the brand. IMO
